Pine Marten Paradise!!!
Saturday, April 28, 2007
The following pictures were taken by one of our guests from inside the chalet, looking out onto the balcony. As you can see the Pine Marten is digging in to a piece of bread and jam. Its' favourite!!!!!
We get regular visits from the Pine Martens around the chalet park (www.glencoeselfcatering.co.uk) and the best time to see them is about half an hour after it gets dark. We encourage our guests to put bread and jam or anything sweet, (they also love honey), on the balconies as it attracts them and hopefully gives our guests a chance to see them up close.
This Pine Marten in the picture is a male, and they are normally about the size of a small domestic cat. Here at the chalets we normally have a breeding pair (male & female) and last year they produced 2 kits (babies). Kits are normally born in early April. The Pine marten has a dark brown coat in summer and a light brown coat in winter.
They are fasinating creatures and truly memorable if you get the chance to see one, if you would like to find out more about Pine Martens go to www.pinemarten.org.uk or if you would like to come and stay in one of our chalets and possibly see a Pine Marten for yourself go to our website www.glencoeselfcatering.co.uk for information.

Post Easter Special Offers!!!
Thursday, April 05, 2007

Why not wait till the Easter rush is over and have a few days away in an idyllic loch side location. We are just going into our third week of fantastic dry, sunny weather which is hopefully set to continue.
This morning (5th April) some of our guests set off from our jetty for a canoe down Loch Leven to enjoy the fabulous weather and stunning scenery. Then later on in the evning some children were playing on our beach front like it was a summers day! It is a beautiful time to visit the area, the flowers and trees are just starting to wake up and Spring is in full bloom.
We are have a special offer on a 4 night break for £185 which is the usual price for 3 nights, why not go to our website and check availability www.glencoeselfcatering.co.uk
Another area to visit if you decide to come for a break is the beautiful village of Arisaig which is on the Road to the Isles to Mallaig. www.road-to-the-isles.org.uk/arisaig.html We went up there last week and almost forgot we were only a few miles from home. With the clear blue sky, shimmering sea and white sands it was like being on a paradise Island in the Indian Ocean (only not quite as hot)!! We had a lovely long walk along the beach and then for lunch we went to Cafe Rhu in Arisaig and had some gorgeous Cullen Skink. A great day out!!
Hope this weather continues!!!!
