Outdoor Activities

The school holidays are in full swing and despite some nasty weather in England, surprisingly, the West coast of the Scottish Highlands has faired better than most areas. Two of our visitors James & Hannah visited Landmark Forest Visitors Centre at Carrbridge near Aviemore www.landmark-centre.co.uk, they enjoyed the "high wire experience" and lived to tell the tale. This is a pleasant hour and thirty minute drive away from Loch Leven Holidays (www.glencoeselfcatering.co.uk) through "Monarch of the Glen" country.
The Landmark visitors centre is in the Cairngorm National Park and in and around this area there is a lot of activity based locations which appeal to children, from Waltzing Waters at Newtonmore www.waltzingwaters.co.uk to the Highland Folk Museum at Newtonmore for those seeking culture or education www.highlandfolk.com
The area of lochaber is infamous as a location for extreme sports from world class mountain biking at The Nevis Range www.nevisrange.co.uk to water based activities run by Monster Activities at South Laggan www.monsteractivities.com
Here at Loch Leven Holidays not to be out done by these auspicious venues "Spitz" a Sergent in the British Army is here seen practising swimming in the Loch for an up and coming triathlon event!!! Spitz and his wife Sue are regular visitors to the site and use the comfortable chalets as a base for their challenging outdoor activities.
